Collected State of Michigan (SOM) funds (ie tax refunds, childcare benefits, lottery winnings etc.) to offsets delinquent assessments with the SOM. This which required researching all aspects of a taxpayer’s file to ensure the offsets were needed. Answered calls from taxpayer’s who had questions related to the offset of State of Michigan funds. Adjust accounts when money needs to be moved between accounts or refunded. As needed, I released tax liens & handle all the paperwork flow involved in the process such as sorting and file state liens & releases from the County Clerk’s Office.

Individual Income Tax (IIT) Returns ProcessingAudited IIT returns, which have been identified through computer programs as containing a range of over 120 different errors or discrepancies. I performed necessary changes on returns to ensure compliance with the Tax Laws, Tax policies and Error Instructions. As needed, I corresponded results of audits to the taxpayers by requesting further documentation, review correspondences & sent tax due or refunds on accounts and assess non-remittance returns. Served on several committees, most recently included being a member of the Good Government (GG) Committee. Which I was appointed to be a part of by the Tax Bureau Director. As a member of GG I met directly with Treasurer, Nick Kory, his consultants and staff of secretaries. Also in attendance at these meetings were IIT directors, managers, supervisors, trainers and two other calculations assistants. The meetings took place starting in October of 2015and consisted of 2-3 hour weekly meetings. As a result of these meeting several changes were established in processing errored out returns and productivity times were decreased which overall increased our processing timeline. I was the Secretary on the Vision & Values Committee which included the responsibility of relaying staff concerns about a variety of issues and changes requested. As Secretary I was also in charge of taking meeting minutes, typing minutes and distributing to staff of over 100 people. I possess considerable knowledge and understanding of the Michigan and Federal Income Tax Laws and Forms.

Provided businesses with Tax Clearance Certificates once they dissolved or were withdrawing from the State of Michigan. This entailed ensuring all Sales, Use & Withholding, Single Business & Motor Fuel Taxes had been filed and paid. This also included constant correspondence with the business owners, advising them of items needed and status updates. Maintained and kept track of each businesses status in the Tax Clearance process using an Excel Spreadsheet.

I helped with the implementation of a new MPAS logo for the PR department. This included meeting with printer company representatives, organizing inventory and distributing new publications to the three MPAS offices in Michigan. Scheduled and organized training/outreach events for a staff of 50 from start to finish. Completely in charge of filling orders that come in for the publications & literature. Created a PR contact list of all newspapers, radio and television stations in Michigan for MPAS press releases. I was a face for MPAS at exhibit events and helped spread the word about MPAS goals and mission for the disabled community. I typed dictated case notes for advocates. Helped prepare year end Performance Progress Reports. Checked all advocates timesheets for accuracy. Went with advocates to mental hospitals and helped take case notes and research client files. Filled in for the Executive Secretary as needed.

I worked closely with the business department at MASB performing significant tasks. Those tasks included preparing for bimonthly board meetings, typing up meeting notes and other pertinent documents. I was responsible for posting daily deposits to the accounting system as well as balancing the account receivables. I made travel and itinerary arrangements for MASB’s 22 board members and several employees.
