When I was a kid I went from wanting to be a vet, to a lawyer, to a professor, and back again, plus or minus a few other job titles. Now I work at a small business where I get to wear multiple hats, none of which I envisioned when I was younger, and none of which I would have thought about even when I approached college. What I've learned as a young professional is that I prioritize being able to learn new things, and expanding my knowledge and network. I thrive when presented with different types of problems that require new and different solutions. I enjoy working on a team and am a valuable team member and better yet, I am a valuable leader. None of these things played a role in my decision-making as a kid, or even when I accepted my job at my current company, but they do influence my decisions every day moving forward since. It is no longer about accepting a position for a title, it is about bringing value to my life, bringing value to my employer, my coworkers, and any customers that we interact with.
