Social Connections And Finance WorkerOur Vision Our Future Feb 2021 - PresentChesterfieldWorking with a self advocacy charity for learning disabled adults, supporting them to run this organisation as much as possible on their own terms. I support members by designing a website, using google sites, that can be updated independently by our members and by creating excel based accounts to allow on site documentation and bookeeping that the Treasurer can work with and understand and update. The charity has a Queens Award for voluntary service and is run by and for the members.

Social Connections Activities WorkerOur Vision Our Future Feb 2021 - Mar 2024United KingdomThis is an all hands on deck role working with a self advocacy group for learning disabled adults based in Chesterfield which is run by and for the members. My role supports members with the development of and participation in their group, including an accessible website which they can now update independently. I teach members how to use different social media channels so they can be actively involved in promoting the work of the group and sharing their experiences. Using skills picked up as a freelancer I also do the bookkeeping and prepare the accounts working alongside the Treasurer. I develop spreadsheets using excel to provide information for funders and our accountants and have also developed other administrative resources for timesheets, invoicing and petty cash. It is a varied role that relies on a flexible approach, a calm nature, empathy and a willingness to take on and resolve challenging situations and an acceptance and celebration of all our differences. Problem solving and learning new skills on the job is a big part of the work with a small team of 4 staff supporting over 60 members to get involved.
