The Studio works mainly in the field of existing buildings and in this context I am in charge of following sites in the city of Milan and its surroundings in complete autonomy.In detail, from a practical point of view, I'm in charge of:- Prescribe and analyze surveys and tests on existing structures in order to evaluate the conditions of the de facto state;- Design and prescribe reinforcements;- Design temporary structures for the construction site;- Model structures using MidasGen or ModeSt software;- Draw up technical tables with executive details;- Draw up calculation reports;- Assist the structural construction supervision;- Draw up "Certificati di Idoneità Statica" (CIS).

Giovanni RebecchiThis internship is intended to study tensile structures and analyse the possibilities offered by the commercial finite element code: MidasGen.For this purpose, a lot of time and resources has been invested in studying and understanding which theories and approaches underpin the conceptual design and the structural behaviour of ca-bles and membranes coming to the awareness that the Form Finding Process represents an essen-tial preliminary step for a correct representation of the problem. After that, a deepen research has established which should be the characteristics of the finite element that better model the prob-lem.The next step has determined the potentialities of MidasGen to model and design almost pure ten-sile architecture. For what concerns the modelling of cables, it provides a finite element that per-fectly fixed the requirements; whereas, a dedicated finite element for membranes is absent. For this reason, this internship focused on cables. At this point, we have investigated if the Form Finding process is performed as a pre-processing in the non-linear analysis carried out by the code. Since it does not, we decided to develop a code in Python which performs the Form Finding and then imports the results in MidasGen.
