Made up of a research group of Santiago de Compostela University developing an appropriate analytical methodology to carry out the study of PAHs (Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) in aqueous samples.-Search policy and legal recommendations for establishing prohibitions and limitations of their presence in the environment.-Bibliographic study on the toxicity and environmental impact of PAHs and most common method for their determination.-Setting up the analytical methodology to obtain extracts from the original samples, to enable thecorrect identification and determination of the analytes.-Develop suitable separation processes to enable the identification and quantification.-Preparation of aquose samples using sortive extraction with PDMS membranes. Determination and quantification of PAHs by High-performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) using UV and fluorescent detectors.-Regular presentations of updates about the research to the University ́s Department of Analytical Chemistry staff.
