In my role, I perform front desk tasks such as answering patient phone calls and emails, do new patient intake, handle epic inbox messages, check in patients, and more. As a technician, I perform TMS treatment on the Neurostar and Magventure machines, and monitor patients throughout the duration of their treatment session.

Peninsula Bridge is a non-profit organization located in the Bay Area that aims to support first-generation, low-income students in their journey to pursue higher education. The summer after fifth grade, I started in the program by spending my summers taking English, math, and science classes in preparation for the following school year. In middle school, I attended the after school program twice a week, and received guidance in applying to independent high schools. In high school, I was supported in applying to colleges and scholarships. Now, I receive guidance through a mentor and college success advisor in areas such as career and professional development, finding summer internships, applying to scholarships, finding support for difficult colleges courses, cultivating my passion for learning, and my mission to give back to disadvantaged communities. Through this program, I have developed more confidence and belief in my abilities, which I would not have otherwise learned in a school environment. They encouraged me to apply to scholarships, which would have otherwise made college unattainable. I am forever grateful for all the support I have received at Peninsula Bridge.

As a COPE Health Scholar, I gain hands-on patient care experience as I assist the nurses in the unit provide care to patients. My roles include making patient beds, passing out food and water to patients, ambulating patients, and more under the supervision of the nurses.

As a Research Intern, I work within the Non-Clinical Development and Clinical Pharmacology Department in support of the company’s current and future drug discovery and development programs. My roles include reading literature, planning and conducting experiments, and analyzing the data. At the end of the internship, presented project to a team of scientists.

As a ScholarPrep Navigator, I supported high school student on their college applications. Every week, they had a module to view and do an activity on, and I made sure they completed this, and then discussed anything that came up for them.

Was a leader for a group of 20 first and second graders. My duties included planning academic, art, and group activities for the entire duration of the program. I had to not only plan and run activities, but also think on the spot and be prepared for any conflicts or issues that arose during the day with the children.

Worked with a Psychology graduate student investigating how subjects retained information when given through a monologue or dialogue. I gave subjects the consent form, and then conducted the experiment by playing an audio of a story being told in either a monologue or a dialogue. Then, the subjects were asked to fill out a satisfaction survey about the story, and then asked to recount the story and record it. At the end of the summer, my research partner and I gave a presentation about our research process and our findings.
