Over the past 20 years, Andrea Pizza has directed, coordinated, and participated in numerous cultural resources investigations involving architectural history, history, and archaeology in the Midwest and the Southwest, including survey, evaluation, and mitigation projects in rural and urban settings. She has extensive experience in archival research, the development of historic contexts, and evaluations of National Register eligibility, which she has applied in all fields of cultural resource management. Examples of her projects include the preparation of a National Register of Historic Places nomination for the Chisholm Commercial Historic District, a documentation of Minnesota’s nineteenth-century masonry ruins and the development of an associated draft National Register MPDF, and the evaluation of a late 19th- to mid 20th-century residential and granite quarrying archaeological site in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Her essay, “Men-Women and Children: Gender and the Structuring of Historical Archaeology” appears in the International Handbook of Historical Archaeology. Andrea meets the U.S. Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for architectural history, history, historical archaeology, and precontact archaeology, and she is a Registered Professional Archaeologist. She is pre-qualified for Architectural/History Studies, Archaeological Work, and Historic Archaeological Work by the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
