Since October 2015 I have been a Ph.D. student in Particle Physics at the University of Bonn, with a strong and conscious interest in contributing to hadron collider physics. I continue working on the ATLAS experiment, and have dedicated the first part of my Ph.D. to the validation of ATLAS b-tagging software and to the completion of the development of the MVA-based SMT. I’ve taken a major role in all of these developments, as well as in their public documentation (ATL-PHYS-PUB-2017-013).During my Ph.D. I have specialized in multilepton final states, working at two searches: Higgs associated production with a top-quark pair (tt ̄H) and massive triboson production (WVZ).My work on the search for tt ̄H production has been part of two main physics results: ATLAS-CONF- 2016-058 and Phys. Rev. D 97, 072003. My main interest was the complete development of the off-shell four light lepton (4l) final state analysis, in which my contributions included: optimization of the object definition, data-driven estimation of reducible backgrounds, development of both a template-based discriminant and a MVA approach, and optimization of the model for the final profile likelihood fit. The latest ATLAS published result (Phys. Rev. D 97, 072003) has provided evidence for the production of tt ̄H.Profiting from my expertise in multilepton final states, I’ve been recently developing the newborn search for the production of massive triboson (WWZ and WZZ) in 3l and 4l final states. This search, combined with the WWW one, aims at the first evidence for the production of massive triboson states. I’ve been working at the development of a new ATLAS-software-integrated framework for the full processing of data, the generation of new Montecarlo simulations for the production of WVZ in semileptonic phase spaces, a reweighing procedure for the correction of LO WZ contributions, the optimization of both the 3l and 4l analyses and the profile likelihood fit model.
