Established industrial engineering function for Ceres Group, which creates custom engineered-to-order capital equipment solutions for the railroad and construction industries. My work focused on scaling the organization from a job shop to standardized manufacturing, while accommodating a workforce increase of 30%. Robotic Implementation: Led hiring, training, and adoption of a new robotic welding process using a Fanuc robot with a positioner totaling 9 axes of movement, which saved Ceres approx. $30k in consulting fees.• Created programs to automate welding processes by as much as 50%, which reduced manual labor 60 hours per month, while increasing manufacturing quality.• Developed scripted automation to reduce nesting time for laser and plasma cutters by 40%.Safety-first Management: Active participant in the 15 person safety committee. • Wrote Ceres Group’s OSHA-mandated emergency action plan and equipped evacuations bags, for each team’s safety coordinator, to prepare for potentially dangerous scenarios.• Developed traffic lanes, signage, and routes to safely move heavy equipment around operators.• Established procedures to increase visibility of first aid kits and fire safety equipment as well as ensuring their monthly inspection and upkeep.Inventory Flow: Implemented strategies to enhance part availability, resulting in a reduction of inventory pulls by up to 20% per build. Implemented new inventory systems and 5S for manufacturing processes.Quality Control: Analyzed quality issues to develop plans for minimizing them and improving the manufacturability of complex parts. Manufacturing Flow: Led a kaizen event to optimize production for flagship products.
