I am currently working as Flight Director for the European Space Agency within the International Space Station project (Call sign Col Flight).After 3 years as Operation Engineer for the on-board systems of the European module, and 1 year as System Specialists team Lead, I was promoted to the Flight Director position. As Flight Director I have the overall responsibility and authority for the Columbus Module elements. Columbus Flight Directors are daily taking care that all the activities with and without crew involvement on-board of the Columbus module (or on ESA owned equipment) are correctly planned, supported and executed. In case of anomalies, malfunctions are experienced during nominal activities it is responsibility of Columbus Flight Director to ensure that the on-board configuration is stable and safe for the crew and that the issues are tracked and possibly solved.As offline tasks I am responsible of Operation Integration of 2 relevant payloads for ESA project: Life Support Rack as well as ACES. I covered project management tasks in support of Operation Implementation and readiness of those highly complex payloads and systems. Thanks to this I not only deeply improved my knowledge of the manned mission environment but also proved to be able to handle real time decision in stressing situation. I achieved this high responsibility position after an academic career deeply focused on space engineering.My Bachelor degree in Aerospace Engineering at Polytechnic University of Turin ended with a 3 months internship at Thales Alenia Space (Rome) where I studied and implemented an attitude control law for small satellites based on magnetic sensor and actuators within the AOCS department. To fulfill my desire of working within the space environment, I moved to Cranfield (UK), were I earned his MSc in Astronautic and Space Engineering in September 2015. With a learning program deeply focused in Space System Engineering, I gained a valuable overview of all the aspects of the Space Missions. Achieving excellent results during my MSc I had the opportunity to present an article extract from my MSc Thesis in Oxford at the 13th Reinventing Space Conference organized by the British interplanetary Society.With a true passion for the space exploration and a solid background in engineering knowledge I am looking forward to contribute to the space conquest.
