I reported to my manager at Charlotte Behavioral Health Care, Punta Gorda, Florida. I implemented their ideas and programs.In December of 2008 I went back to the center and asked if they needed a secretary. Yes they did. I was a volunteer from December 2008 - March 2009 when I was hired as the Executive Assistant to the Director. In March The Haven Drop-In Center left the umbrella of Charlotte Behavioral Health Care and became a corporation with a 501 (c) 3 non-profit status and won a contract and funding from Florida's Department of Children and Families.In December of 2009 I became the Program Director. I worked with a wonderful Board of Directors. I was responsible to DCF to follow the laws and statutes of Florida and DCF's rules for the safety and happiness and support of my peers. I was responsible for working with DCF's Contract Managers to receive our funding.In March of 2010 the position of Program Director was eliminated and I was given the title and promoted to Executive Director. The Board of Directors and I facilitated a move from Parmely Street in Charlotte Harbor to Woodbury Drive in the Murdock area. (Both in Port Charlotte). We generated a larger center for more people and programs.People with mental illnesses from all walks of life come to the center to find comfort and contact and support with others of like minds.On July 1, 2010, Central Florida Behavioral Health Network became our Managers when DCF was privatized. Our Board Treasurer and I worked with them to manage a smooth transition. The Board of Directors were my greatest asset.I left the center in September 2010 to work with Central FL Behavioral Health Network for several months. Show less
