Close Up's mission is to inform, inspire, and empower young people to exercise the rights and accept the responsibilities of citizens in a democracy. To that end, they implement a robust civic education curriculum for middle and high school students from across the United States. Using D.C. as a classroom, students are guided through the process of building their own political efficacy to address pertinent current issues.As a Program Instructor, I take the lead in applying the Close Up curriculum and facilitating students' learning. Each week, I manage a group of 20-27 students, providing them the information, tools, and instruction they need to cooperatively achieve their goals. Students complete the program with an increased understanding of their role in political processes and their ability to effect change.

Safe Passage (Camino Seguro) is an internationally operating 501(c)(3) dedicated to empowering at-risk children and youth living in Guatemala City's garbage dump community. Implementing a comprehensive set of programs, they create opportunities and foster dignity through the power of education. During my year as a Support Teams Coordinator at Safe Passage, I served as a key member of the Development team. By organizing high-quality, immersive exchange experiences, we built lasting relationships between our Guatemalan students and international visitors and supporters. My specific accomplishments included:- Coordinated and led 22 one-week international volunteer trips for teams of 8-24 people- Organized end-of-year Quinceañera event for 20 honored students and more than 250 guests- Documented teams’ financial contributions and communicated donations priorities- Developed preparatory resources for incoming team leaders and participants- Maintained and updated department webpage

Wyman Center is a nonprofit organization based in St. Louis, Missouri that partners with communities to provide teens with the supports and opportunities they need to survive AND thrive in life. Wyman programs change the odds for young people from disadvantaged circumstances, allowing them to become economically self-sufficient, leaders in their communities, and ultimately, to break the cycle of poverty.In my work with Wyman's National Network, our vision is to foster communities where every teen is expected and supported to thrive in life, work and learning. We are partnering with organizations across the country to take Wyman’s Teen Outreach Program® (TOP®) into the lives of teens at such a scale that the nation’s youth and their communities are positively impacted by the program’s proven outcomes.To contribute to this vision, I have:- Coordinated 10 three- to five-day program trainings for seven to sixteen local and visiting staff- Developed and disseminated up-to-date implementation resources and promotional materials- Designed, written, and distributed monthly e-newsletter to over 200 partnering staff- Provided technical assistance with online data collection software and program monitoring processes

As the number one school of Social Work in the United States, the George Warren Brown School's mission includes educating future leaders, pioneering research, and collaborating with other organizations to impact policy and address social and economic justice.At Washington University's Brown School, I: - Managed communications and scheduling for the School of Social Work’s Associate Dean of Faculty- Edited and formatted scholarly reviews, reference letters, presentation materials, and event flyers- Arranged travel and assembled preparatory portfolios for four national conferences

I served as the first point of contact for patients at a bi-lingual health clinic. I welcomed patients, explained our services and procedures, set and tracked appointments, and maintained our databases.

For over 80 years, Gene Slay's Boy's Club has provided programs and facilities to enhance the quality of life for St. Louis children. I came to the Club at a time of transition in leadership and revitalization of programming. Thus, I had the opportunity to take a proactive role in designing new projects and activities. I:- Designed and implemented daily character development curriculum for eight age groups- Led daily recreational activities for groups of ten to forty boys ages six to thirteen- Incepted and organized end-of-summer carnival involving over 70 youth and twenty staff

Witness for Peace works to to support peace, justice and sustainable economies in the Americas.I first got involved with Witness for Peace as an Alternative Break Leader at American University. After partnering iwth them to lead a student delegation to Colombia, I felt that I could do more. I contacted WFP, and they offered me an internship position in their office in Bogotá. There, I:- Collaborated with community leaders to prioritize projects and maintain consistent messaging- Provided international accompaniment to communities, community leaders, and events- Created website materials including translations, blogs, and video projects- Coordinated meetings and designed itinerary for incoming delegation of U.S. students- Drafted and edited letters to grassroots supporters and government officials

AMEXTRA, The Mexican Association for Rural and Urban Transformation, operates independent community development projects in various sites. Through AMEXTRA, I lived and worked in the community of Ajusco, a neighborhood on the outer fringes of Mexico City. I worked in the Ajusco English School:- Taught seven to nine English classes per week to students ages six to forty-six- Created all preparatory materials including tests and lesson plans - Organized monthly social event for students and families

I worked with CWS's Immigration and Refugee program. I advocated for just and humane immigration reform:- Coordinated grassroots outreach efforts between main office and regional supporters- Created publications and print resources for Ecumenical Advocacy Days, a four-day national conference of over 700 participants- Scheduled congressional visits and prepared customized fact sheets for each participant- Researched current policy implications and political priorities regarding immigration

Easter Seals promotes accessible, affordable services and policies for all people, regardless of their ability. As a member of their government relations team, I:- Managed application process for membership with five prominent international organizations- Revised annual report on state legislation concerning autism- Composed internal documents including press release summaries and letter translations- Researched potential donor foundations and possibilities for grant development
