I work full-time as a freelance filmmaker, editor, and story consultant. In the past, this work has included both film-industry and other corporate clients, from small independent business owners to multinational companies. Over the last couple of years, I have been moving away from corporate work and focusing solely on working in the film industry. I have produced, written, directed, and edited a number of independent films over the last 8 years, as well as working as both an assistant editor and editor on a number of other film projects. Most recently, I was nominated for Canadian Cinema Editors' (CCE) award for best editing of a short form documentary for my film entitled Solidarity Film Camp, which was centred on a camp I created to empower marginalized youth with the skills and confidence to make films and share their underrepresented stories with the world.My corporate projects involved working with clients to write and/or develop video content that I would then shoot and edit for them. These videos are used for everything from online advertising to website content, crowd-sourcing campaigns, and online courses. Sometimes they're just a fantastic way for businesses to say hi to their current and prospective clients.

Kissing Habit Films is my independent film company, which I started in 2013. Kissing Habit's work has been screened at festivals and events across Alberta, the United States, and South America. After winning the 2013/2014 season of Edmonton's Metro Shorts Festival, Kissing Habit also won the 2014 Yeggie award for Best in Film & TV. In 2016, I was one of 15 people to win funding for a short film through Telus STORYHIVE's female directors' initiative. In 2017, I won funding a second time through Telus STORYHIVE to make a documentary web series pilot, Stump Kitchen: Cooking For the Heart.Kissing Habit Films eventually grew into abeça productions inc.

My position with Calder Bateman was varied, and throughout the year I worked there, expanded to include many of my skills and passions. From helping to develop, execute, and maintain digital and social media strategies for clients to copywriting, taking staff headshots, and video production, I had the opportunity to do a lot of work I loved in a short period of time.

Prior to actually starting my own business and taking the leap into a full-time career working for myself, I spent many years working as a part-time freelancer, helping people tell their story in whatever way I could. This included things like writing reports, web content, and e-books, as well as editing and proofreading everything from government documents to novels, training manuals, and more. I also did a lot of interview transcription for journalists and PhD students at the University of Alberta.

I worked as an administrative assistant for the McCreery Group, which involved everything from simple paperwork to booking travel and accommodations for the group, editing research papers and theses, managing large databases, placing and tracking supply orders for the group, and much more. Although it was a position with the Department of Chemistry, my position had me working out of the National Institute for Nanotechnology on the University of Alberta campus.

From programming the theatre season into Theatre Manager (software) to managing subscriptions, selling tickets, and helping with front of house nightly, I feel like I did a little bit of everything at Theatre Network and working there was a fantastic and formative experience in my life.
