My name is Andrea, but my friends and family call me PSPN2. Let me explain.If you were to talk with me 10 years ago, I would have told you that I hit the peak of my career in college when I worked for ESPN. Well, technically I worked alongside their crew for a handful of games that aired on ESPN2. I graduated from Northern Illinois University, a school in the often forgetten MAC confrerence, so we didn't get prime billing when it came to ESPN. Still, sitting in that ESPN2 truck under the glimmer of what felt like 1,000 little TV screens, I didn't think it could get any better for me. But... that's not actually where I got my nickname. I just needed your attention first! So even though the story above is true, my nickname was given to me long before I ever sat in that ESPN2 truck. I got my nickname from my "Papa". PSPN (the original) is my grandpa, and ever since I can remember he always had his head in his "sports" - a big black binder filled with rows and rows of college stats. He knew everything about every college player, which is why we lovingly dubbed him the "Papa Sports Programming Network".I was fascinated with his "sports". By middle school I was mimicking his work, jotting down rows upon rows of numbers. I analyzed everything I could get my hands on. Soon, my "sports" binder turned into a massive excel file. I organized each team on its own tab. I taught myself how to create charts and pivot tables so I could analyze my own anaylses. PSPN2 was born, and she couldn't be stopped. And she never did stop. Even when she thought her career had peaked at ESPN2.I love the memories I carry from my time spent in the sports world. I loved the work I did in college, so much that I did more of it for free after I graduated. For years I worked in an office setting, yearning to get back into what I loved. It wasn't until I took a job in Purchasing that I realized I didn't just have a love of sports statistics, I loved numbers. I loved analyzing, I loved organizing, I loved making sense of the data in front of me. Purchasing turned out to be a perfect fit.
