The San Francisco Wholesale Product Market (SFWPM) is one of the largest wholesale markets in the country that provides food infrastructure and services to 30+ businesses that store, aggregate, and distribute fresh produce in the Bay Area.As Program Manager, I developed the strategy for building SFWPM’s work beyond day-to-day infrastructure operations in order to better serve regional farmers, customers of the market, and the broader food community. Simulated farmer decisions through the use of the Delta Agricultural Production (DAP) model, an agricultural optimization model that utilizes Constant Elasticity of Substitution production functions and Positive Mathematical Programming concepts.Improved model results by integrating regional agricultural data (carbon content of soils, weather patterns, and crop production costs) into the DAP model and by conducting deep customer research.
