The Orlando expansion comes as universities like UCF focus on bringing research and discoveries out of the lab and into the marketplace as viable businesses, growing jobs and returning revenues to the institutions through licensing agreements. The Technology Transfer Team Guides scientists and inventors through the complex patenting and commercialization processes..I work with students and faculty members desiring to form new companies that license UCF-developed technologies. This often includes equity positions for the university and involvement with angel networks, venture capitalists or other external partners funding the startup.My professional team consists of a licensing associate and two technology managers. I also work closely with business development professionals, graduate students, financial analysts, UCF’s Office of General Counsel, and the department’s marketing/research promotions team. ► Negotiated licenses to UCF’s intellectual property with newly formed companies and well-recognized industry leaders such as Warner Brothers for the TV series The Big Bang Theory. ► Licensed a wide range of UCF technologies, including a biomedical diagnostic device for women’s health, breast cancer therapies to protect against radiation damage, clean stormwater and wastewater treatment media and systems, energy saving green roofs, gaming software, agricultural bactericides for treating citrus diseases, software and patented vision systems for traffic and crowd management, software for research administration, and trademark licenses covering products developed in UCF labs.
