Throughout the evaluation, Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR) principles were used as a guiding framework to equitably involve all stakeholders in the process and remain accountable to the client. We created data collection tools and collected and analyzed quantitative and qualitative data to determine the effectiveness of SFSTF's Summer Youth Program in achieving its stated goals and objectives. Our findings also informed recommendations for sustainability, program enhancements and organizational capacity. Our final deliverable was a written report and capacity building tools to assist SFSTF in building capacity to continue carrying out evaluation and recommended program enhancements. Show less

To determine a relationship, I geocoded health indicator and racial covenant plat data in ArcGIS to create maps, and overlaid the… Show more "Impact of Historical Real Estate Practices on Current Health Equity in King County"Working in the Assessment, Policy Development and Evaluation (APDE) Unit, I researched and analyzed data on the use of historical real estate practices, redlining and racial restrictive covenants, and their relationship to current geographic differences in health inequities. To determine a relationship, I geocoded health indicator and racial covenant plat data in ArcGIS to create maps, and overlaid the Seattle redlining map. Our hypothesis was correct: Seattle’s history of racial residential segregation has a relationship to current geographic differences in health outcomes and health inequities. Historically redlined neighborhoods have worse health outcomes than neighborhoods with clusters of racial restrictive covenants. Show less
