Performed multiple, complex molecular procedures for the MaterniT21 PLUS assay. Modules included nucleic acid extraction, quantification and normalization, multiplexing, and sequencing of DNA libraries, and data analysis. Served as NC Laboratory Safety Representative: Created all safety related informational boards; implemented temporary IIPP upon NC site start up; coordinated first AED/CPR training class for the site; published quarterly safety fliers for NC Sequenom employees. Implemented and supported Quality Assurance of laboratory: Developed a CAP survey safety checklist for lab personnel prior to initial CAP inspection; trained new employees and administered competencies to current employees; created written competency assessments for specific modules and general laboratory; updated/amended SOP’s and checklists as needed; proofread documents for subsequent lab accreditation applications.

Assisted practitioners in the collection of adult and pediatric bone marrow specimens. Stained, mounted, and counted bone marrow differentials for pathology reports.

Performed CBC’s, manual diffs, and comprehensive chemistry panels for oncology patients served in the Bone Marrow/Transplant and Medical Oncology Units in the Emory Clinic.

Performed all in-house laboratory testing: hematology, chemistry, immunology and flow cytometry. Maintained inventory, QC records, and all record keeping within laboratory.Performed venipunctures and therapeutic phlebotomies, EKGs and front office duties when necessary. Successfully completed and passed COLA inspection for HMG laboratory in September 2008.

Maintained several lines of genetically altered mice, extracted/genotyped DNA by various molecular methods. Managed inventory, radiation safety protocols, and day to day operations of the laboratory.
