Andrea Cotter is President and Founder of Virgilio & Cotter, LLC where she focuses on Marketing and Communications Strategies and specializes in Health Care.Andrea had a long career in marketing and communications both as a Global Executive at IBM Corporation and as SVP and Chief Communications Officer at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). She has done management and communications consulting work with clients in Europe and the US and also taught leadership and strategic communications as an adjunct faculty member at NYU's School of Professional Studies. At IBM Andrea served as the Global Director of Healthcare and Life Science Marketing. Before that she was involved with IBM's marketing transformation initiatives, managed marketing programs for various IBM products and services including the IBM Software, IBM System Z mainframe, and IBM eServer Brand Marketing, and was Global Director of the IBM Linux marketing strategy. At UPMC Andrea held responsibility for brand marketing, advertising, clinical marketing, and public relations. She led a team of 100 marketing and communications professionals and championed a new internal and external communications strategy focused on patient-centric care delivery. Andrea also increased the global brand recognition of UPMC bringing awareness to its good science, smart technology, and new models of care delivery.Andrea has received recognition for unique Interactive Media Programs and community leadership. She speaks nationally and internationally at public events and for university communications programs. Andrea is multi-lingual and has traveled extensively for business in the US, Europe, and Asia, and, to Russia as a community ambassador.
