As a retail associate, I assisted educators and families in selecting the best educational materials for their home and/or classrooms. I had to maintain a neat and orderly retail floor and helped to create and put up displays of featured merchandise. During down times, we had to price and put out the new merchandise. During the week I often was in charge of receiving inventory and would serve as the night manager. On weekends I counted drawers and often made the Saturday morning bank run.

During my first year, I worked the summer camp and then taught the afternoon preschool/kindergarten class (ages 3 to 6) that included kindergartners bussing in from their public kindergarten. I also worked after school care and helped to bring in and feed our livestock out in the barns and pastures.My second year, I moved to being the full day teacher/directress.My third year, I was also working as the Assistant Administrator, helping to conduct parent tours and maintaining licensing guidelines while also working full time in the classroom. When I left, we were forging a partnership with the Sylvania City School District to make our units of study connect while also following our own curricula for the kindergartners.

My primary role was working in the office, making sure paperwork was always up to date for licensing guidelines, tracking CACFP purchases, working on DHS paperwork, running the weekly payroll, and whatever other duties the owners asked of me. I also served as a floater in the classrooms, stepping in for teachers for lunch breaks or if they needed an extra hand (like multiple infants crying at the same time). I also briefly ran the three-year-old class.

I did spend one year in the elementary after school care program. As time went on, I also picked up lunch/nap duties and was often called upon to sub in all of the classrooms, library, and office. My final year was my Montessori internship year in the 3-6 classroom as I earned my Early Childhood Montessori credential.
