I am an outreach and communications professional interested in the mission driven world of political campaigns, nonprofits and social enterprises. My issue focus surrounds the intersection of equity, sustainability, and apathy. I believe these are among the most urgent social issues for our community. As a recent Seattle transplant to Raleigh, I am excited to apply my skills and experiences to a different iteration of these challenges in the Triangle area.While working on high profile statewide issue campaigns in WA State, for marriage equality and gun responsibility, I led organizing teams to not only recruit and train hundreds of volunteers but to also employ communication tactics to develop campaign (brand) ambassadors. After activating the potential of story telling and the power of message discipline that grassroots political organizations exemplify at their best, I want to continue to develop these tools for the nonprofit and social enterprise spheres. Two full cycles in electoral politics have taught me that the outreach and advocacy principles that win elections can and need to be applied to the long-term visions of organizations; that’s where I can help.Other things to note: I prefer spectrums to boxes, my enthusiasm to track and share information via the Google cloud, and that I would love to discuss any of these issues and solutions, particularly over trivia at the newest microbrewery. My academic background exemplifies my holistic approach to advocacy - I graduated from the University of Washington with College Honors, a B.A. in Political Science, and three minors in Women's Studies, Human Rights, and Law Societies and Justice (LSJ). This left me slightly overwhelmed by the truism that Injustice Anywhere is Threat to Justice Everywhere but motivated to press on!
