About Andrea Delgado-Olson
I am a goal oriented, creative, and innovative Indigenous woman with over 8 years of experience in the tech and nonprofit industries. As the Executive Director of IndigiGenius, I lead a nonprofit organization where the mission is to increase opportunities, access, equity, and representation of Indigenous people in computer science fields. I oversee the strategic vision, operations, fundraising, and partnerships of the organization, and collaborate with tribes, schools, and other stakeholders to ensure inclusion of Indigenous perspectives, knowledge, culture, values, and voices and we are building technologies for Indigenous people, by Indigenous people!My career journey started with teaching for over 17 years, where I developed the foundational skills of young learners. I then received my bachelor's degree in education and pursued a master's degree in computer science from Mills College, and discovered my passion for tech. I attended the Grace Hopper Celebration in 2014 and founded an affinity group for Native American Women in Computing and STEM through AnitaB.org. I joined the AnitaB.org staff in 2015 where I worked with communities and affinity groups, and organized and managed events, panels, and workshops at the annual Grace Hopper Celebration. I have also co-founded a startup, ZaaWink, and led a nonprofit, Natives in Tech, and worked as a customer success manager at Netreo. Through my diverse and impactful experiences, I have developed and demonstrated skills in nonprofit management, leadership, strategic planning, fundraising, customer success, community engagement, program management, event planning, and entrepreneurship. I have also published and featured in several articles and magazines that showcase my connection to my heritage as a Miwok woman and my vision for the future of tech diversity. I am driven by my mission to connect Indigenous youth to tech careers by encouraging them to explore pathways into technology and inspiring them to pursue their dreams.
