Functionalization of the external surface with Gd(III) complexes and functionalization of the inner pore surface with ibuprofen molecules (as a model for more useful drugs such as chemotherapeutics). Characterization of the materials with a combined approach: XRD, Nitrogen physisorption analysis, Thermogravimetric analysis, SEM microscopy, DLS analysis FTIR and UV-Vis spectroscopies. The materials were also tested for the release of the drug and for their ability to enhance water relaxation rate.
