As Assistant Dean, Student Wellness, Support & Success, Andrea leads strategic initiatives to address student well-being, persistence/retention and success while advancing the goals and objectives of UTM and the University of Toronto. The Assistant Dean also works proactively, developing innovative services and programs using a variety of tools and approaches, and manages the development, implementation and systematic review process of policies, procedures and resources. In her role as Assistant Dean, Andrea has responsibility for ensuring the integration of sound management practices and the optimal use of human and financial resources within the division’s structure. Andrea has oversight of several critical departments in Student Affairs including: Health & Counselling Centre (a robust clinical operation overseen by a medical director); Accessibility Services (providing academic accommodations for students and faculty consultation); Department of Athletics, Recreation & Wellness (over 500 employees and over a 2m operating budget); Student Conduct; and Critical Incident and Crisis Management on Campus. Andrea is also a Part Time Faulty Member at the University of Western Ontario. Andrea previously worked in the social service not-for-profit sector and then moved to public institutions, particularly the University of Toronto and the University of Western Ontario. Her work has concentrated on access to education for designated groups, mental health and building healthy communities. One particular research project which Andrea contributed to received an award from the Canadian Council on Learning. Andrea works closely with the Council of Ontario Universities to build accessible teaching and learning environments on Ontario campuses.Andrea holds a Ph.D.from the University of Toronto
