Giving a year of service to work in the field of education at Miami SouthRidge Senior High School to create a more positive school environment, implement before/after school programming, support in Reading/English classrooms, and create lasting relationships with Corps Members, high school students, faculty/staff, and administration.

• Served as a change agent for female inmates at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office – Jail Central and women who were previously incarcerated at the Changed Choices HOME (Home of Meaningful Encouragement)• Advocated on behalf of women who are incarcerated and empowered women 16 years of age and up to engage in life-changing services and programs• Led a course called the Changing Course at Jail Central for the youthful offenders and young adult women• Facilitated a Mentoring Program and managed a group of 8 volunteer mentors at Jail Central for the youthful offenders and young adult women• Initiated a fitness group called United Women of Perseverance for any of the Changed Choices clients in transition
