Development of an LCA tool in Rhino/Grasshopper starting from the geometrical input of the building, all the way to the final carbon calculation. The tool separates different categories of buildings and has a result presentation interface.

Functional development plans for kindergartens and schools for the municipalities of Kolding, Randers, Middelfart and Næstved. Individual participation in the ideas competition "Absolut Sustainability", organized by the Danish Architectural Association.During my time at Arkitektfirmaet Gorm Nielsen I have improved my understanding of the Danish public sector, especially in relation to the kindergartens and public school area.Furthermore, I trained my danish speaking, understanding and writing skills in an architectural office context.

- Assistance in structural and constructive consultancy for a 6 residential towers in CLT located in Heerhugowaard (The Netherlands).- Participation to project meetings together with the other main parties involved in the project (developper, architects, engineers, energetic and acoustic consultants, ...) - Assistance in the early design stages of the design through the implementation of environmental and economical sustainability (Microclimate studies, user group analysis, ...)- Technical detailing of the critical CLT constructive parts (foors, connections, balconies, roof, ...).- Representation and communication of the design and constructive concepts by mean of 2d and 3d illustrations.- General research work concerning the thermal and fire resistance properties of CLT compared with traditional construcion methods (e.g. prefab concrete).- Assistance in the development of the concept for an automated design software; this is meant for the automatic design of residential projects in CLT from client inputs to final BIM model. My contribution consisted in the support to the general concept (input and outputs) and the implementation of some business rules deducted from architectural and sustainability criteria.

The integration of Life Cycle Assessment in the design process has been the main theme of my master thesis, developed thanks to the collaboration with the sustainability department of C.F. Møller that provided the LCA parametric tools.This topic has been applied to a high-rise mixed-use timber building located in Aarhus.Timber has been a mandatory choice to drastically reduce the environmental impact of the project together with other volumetric and architectural choices that has been deducted thanks to iterations done using the tool from C.F. Møller.The combination of the environmental and context integration decisions with the LCA iterations defined the project: the final result is an open building complex that relies on public and semi-public spaces to relate with the active Godsbanen district; at the same time the elegant treatment of the façades with wood and the compactness of the volumes transmit the sustainable character of the project, in contrast with the concrete and masonry buildings in the surroundings.The design of the apartments has been the result of modularity and affordable housing: the warm internal atmosphere given by the exposed CLT structure generates an uncommon architectural language for social housing and shows that the potential of the material goes beyond the sustainability benefits.This project gave me the opportunity to collaborate with a big architectural firm with a focus on sustainability and therefore to learn what is the state-of-the-art in the sustainable architecture research.
