I was born and raised in El Paso, TX. Following high school, I attended American University in Washington DC for two years before moving back to El Paso and finished my degree at the University of Texas at El Paso. Being a first-generation graduate, I received my bachelor’s degree in Women’s and Gender Studies and master’s degree in Higher Education Administration. My full-time professional career started at the Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine. As one of the inaugural staff members, I have been able to learn and understand the many foundational aspects to building a new dental program. From starting with the Office of the Dean and Academic Affairs, to working with clinical affairs and student affairs, and now in the Office of Admissions, I have been able to grow and excel in ways that she can better serve the school, students, and prospective students. Through my education and experience, I hope to further educate, learn from, and collaborate on local and national levels to find ways to further engage and mentor marginalized groups into the dental profession.
