Led the AMR Economic Incentive Pilot Project team to design and propose a model that the government of Canada will use to incentivize the commercialization of antimicrobials in Canada. Working with the wealth of knowledge developed by the previous team, I led the team that chose the type of incentive to be used, the drugs chosen and the procurement approach to be used and presented to senior management with an accompanying Memo for Concurrence.

Led the Biomanufacturing and Life Sciences Strategy Team at the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) until December 2023 when the (BLSS) team was merged with the Medical Countermeasures team at which time I became the Director of the Antimicrobial Resistance Pilot Project for PHAC. In this role, we are developing incentive programs for industry and streamlining processes to increase access to antimicrobials (antibiotics) for Canadians. Canada is the third country globally to initiate a pilot project.

Established in early 2016, Dr. Gilpin is responsible for building the Centre and leading the Centre’s team. In this role, she provides the strategic direction and oversees the operations of the Centre. One of the main strategies of the Centre, is to develop partnerships with the pharmaceutical industry to support the development of pediatric formulated medicines in Cananda. In several cases, many of the needed pediatric medicines are availble in other jurisdictions but are not approved in Canada. The Centre is facilitating bringing these much needed pediatric medicines to Canada, by using its expertise and service offering, to work with the many stakeholders involved in the Canadian Health Care Industry.The Rosalind & Morris Goodman Family Pediatric Formulations Centre of the CHU Sainte-Justine is the only Centre in Canada whose mandate is to make available child-friendly forms and formulations. Many medicines administered to children are not available in pharmaceutical forms adapted to their needs. Indeed, most oral medications are produced for adults as tablets and capsules, which lack dosing flexibility to meet dosage requirements of the spectrum of ages and sizes, ranging from neonates to adolescents. The Centre is “Improving Access to Child-Friendly Medicines”.
