About Andrea Justus

Building upon the landmark Supreme Court victory in Kennedy v. Bremerton School District, First Liberty seeks to transform public expressions of faith in communities throughout America. During a time when radical groups are tearing down monuments and memorials, we want to usher in a revival of monuments and memorials as they are restored across the nation. Kennedy sets the stage for this revival: There the Supreme Court overruled a fifty-year-old anti-religious freedom precedent, Lemon v. Kurtzman, and its endorsement test, that courts relied upon in hundreds of cases to prohibit public expressions on faith. This provides a tremendous opportunity to restore public expressions of faith (e.g., veterans memorials with religious imagery, Ten Commandments displays, public prayer, etc.) that Lemon struck down.The Supreme Court win in Kennedy reestablishes the right to begin the process of restoring faith in America through the courts. But court victories are not enough. Citizens now need to exercise those restored rights. Too often our governmental bodies have forgotten those rights. Too often our employers have forgotten those rights. Too often we neglected to stand for those rights. However, we have been granted a once in a lifetime opportunity to renew our commitment and exercise of religious liberty. The environment to promote and exercise religious freedom has not been better for over half a century. Now is the time to act. Great legal victories have been won - the American people are just unaware of what has happened.The Restoring Faith in America (RFIA) campaign has the goal of letting every person in America know they have dramatic restored freedoms and to equip them to take action. The RFIA campaign has three main elements: 1.) connecting with like-minded major groups and associations to 2.) get the word out across the country and 3.) equip every citizen to take action in their own local communities.I will be leading these efforts.
