Conduct research and assist in the preparation of hearings and trials of Assistant US Attorney (AUSA)’s. Perform under the guidance of veteran AUSA’s to prepare documents to be filed with the Court.Prepare memoranda regarding legal issues applied to the facts of pending cases, and make recommendations to supervising AUSA.Participate in witness conferences and observe hearings and trials of cases. Attend office trainings on current legal issues.

Researched pre-legal education best practices to help design the Legal Education and Advancement (LEAP) Week Six Program and 1L Orientation. Used critical writing and analysis skills to develop weekly reports used to keep center projects on track, provided background information for center programs and to highlight center programming gaps. Served as a one of two contacts for all summer programming projects, including the organization and facilitation of 1L orientation, which involved more than 300 students and staff over four days.

Conducted in-depth research and prepared comprehensive memoranda of law on complex legal issues in the areas of construction litigation, cranes and airspace easements, oil and gas, MUD management, affordable housing, statutory bonds and real estate. Reviewed appellate opinions and wrote case summaries for review and eventual publication in the Construction Law Journal on four cases decided by the 5th Circuit during 2015-2016.

► Researched factual and legal issues, reviewed appellate records, performed substantive citation checks, wrote memoranda of law and presubmission opinions, discussed those with the judges and the Court's attorneys, observed the judges' discussions of issues in cases that are submitted, observed oral argument, and observed postsubmission resolution of legal issues raised in oral argument.

► Involved in the creation of the first Veteran’s Court in Texas, a special initiative designed to identify honorably discharged veteran offenders and provide specialized supervision, resolving felony charges related primarily to mental health, TBI and addiction issues in collaboration with the US Department of Veterans’ Affairs. ► Experienced in courtroom proceedings of felony and misdemeanor courts, prepared supervision conditions, file motions to adjudicate or revoke probation, and made sentencing and sanctioning recommendations to judges and attorneys daily.Investigated, prepared and submitted Pre-Sentence Investigations to judges to aid in the sentencing of major felony offenders, testified in criminal cases as needed, worked in all criminal courts including all of the felony and misdemeanor courts as a CLO floater, and held long-term assignments in the 228th Criminal District Court and County Criminal Court at Law #7. ► Supervised a caseload of 120 felony offenders out of the 208th Criminal District Court, monitored offender compliance with court-ordered conditions through weekly/monthly interviews, field visits, telephone calls, and ordering random urinalysis tests , conducted risk and needs assessments to aid in effective supervision of offendersAppeared in District Court weekly for admonishments, to testify in hearings, and make sanction and sentencing recommendations.
