“A great safety culture: when people continue to work safely, and do the right thing, even when no one is watching.”I have found my passion in Health&Safety/People Operations after making the decision to undertake my masters in ‘Human Resource Management’ and subsequently completing a diploma in occupational health and safety, having spent valuable time in Irish Life. Irish Life is a great place to work. Throughout my time here, I have got involved in lots of interesting work including performing and documenting a wide range of risk assessments, carrying out ergonomic assessments, writing health and safety policies, managing first aid, stress/wellbeing management, managing the EAP service, responding to H&S queries. Working in a fast-paced environment, I have learned how to best cope with various high-pressure situations in a calm and adaptable way. The aspect I have enjoyed most whilst at Irish Life is working as part of a team collaborating with one another and drawing on each other’s strengths and working towards the values of the company. In 2018-2019, I completed my masters in ‘Human Resource Management’ at Trinity Business School. I gained extensive knowledge of HR through a variety of modules including learning development, business leadership, managing diversity and performance rewards management. I really enjoyed my module in employee relations, through which I acquired key conflict resolution skills. I have been able to bring these skills into my role in health and safety. I would like to continue developing my skills in Health and Safety and am interested in completing a course in project management. I previously completed an online course in Lean Sigma Quality delivered by Sligo IT. I like to keep active by going for daily walks, challenging myself in multiple charity/fundraiser runs and venturing on numerous mountain hikes. I also enjoy trying out new baking recipes, solving puzzles and socialising with friends and also meeting new people.
