A resourceful CPA and CIA with a positive, can-do attitude and a blend of public accounting, internal audit, private business, and financial reporting experience. No matter the type of hurdle—technical, interpersonal, regulatory, technological, or competency, I will meet it with a positive attitude, tenacity and knowledge of when to elicit additional help or resources.For more than 5 years, I operated a one-person shop that sold high-quality custom-designed cakes. This venture presented me with the novel challenge of learning how to establish an LLC and appeal to customers. My business and accounting knowledge, my pertinacity, and my drive led me to the resources and additional knowledge needed to build a successful business. I developed a website, corresponded with potential clients, networked with other wedding professionals, listened to my clients, resolved potential image copyright issues, created scrumptious cakes, and delivered unique wedding and birthday cakes to venues. In addition to the artistic and design work, I drew and executed contracts, sourced and procured raw materials, developed supplier and client databases, managed accounts payable and receivables, and created and analyzed the financial statements and budgets, all while managing the quarterly taxes. When it became time to prioritize family, I researched how to properly close a business and filed the correct forms, while referring my clients to new cake artists based on their needs.I have active CIA and CPA certifications and have taken a minimum of 40 hours of continuing professional education classes each year. I have also assisted others with accounting issues on a freelance basis. I have been an active volunteer in the public school, and in 2020–2021, I successfully navigated the process of homeschooling: researching Ohio laws; filing the notice of intent; and developing, teaching, and adjusting the curriculum. On a personal level, I have developed resourcefulness and self-reliance via backpacking. On top of all of this, I am continually rising to the challenges of raising a child. My professional and life experiences have given me a wide range of insight, wisdom, and courage. Ultimately, I hope to establish the next step in my professional career at a place where I can thrive and grow, applying my assets to the advantage of the organization as a whole.
