I lead a multi-year UX research study of Digication, an ePortfolio platform using focus groups, survey research, and in depth interviews to uncover potential barriers to adoption.

I Influenced how 120 adjunct faculty taught academic discourse to basic writers, English language learners, and other students of composition by creating data-driven pedagogy and making assignment recommendations for faculty based on qualitative data analysis of 1,500 students assignments. Oh, and my work was published in the Journal of Basic Writing.

I believe that technology could and should be used to serve the vulnerable and the overlooked. I was humbled to be able to embody this belief by conducting 200+ in person interviews and focus groups with homeless populations to inform the design of a social media health education module and health intervention.

This was one of the first opportunities I had to use applied research to help vulnerable populations. I led a one year longitudinal interview process of 54 study participants to assess the impact of crystal meth, risky sexual behavior, and HIV transmission rates. I had to get creative and use snowball sampling to survey 500 participants. Ultimately, I was proud to make recommendations that directly influenced grantmaking and a revised approach to increase medication adherence.
