The Central Texas Clean Air Coalition, or the Clean Air Coalition, is a voluntary, unincorporated association that became affiliated with CAPCOG by a resolution adopted on Nov. 13, 2002. It members consist of elected officials from the Austin-Round Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area — Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, and Williamson counties. It works to develop clean air plans to maintain compliance with the federal eight-hour ozone standards.

The Capital Area Emergency Communications District, established in 2013 by State Legislation and subsequent resolutions by Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Fayette, Hays, Lee, Llano, Travis and Williamson counties and the City of Austin, oversees 9-1-1 services to local governments in State Planning Region 12.

The 29-member Executive Committee, CAPCOG's governing body, largely comprises city and county elected officials nominated and selected annually to provide direction to CAPCOG staff on program implementation, budgets, contracts and general policies and procedures for managing the agency. As of 2014, the committee has four nonvoting seats for State Legislators representing Texas Planning Region 12. Andrea Navarrette was named as a 2017 Officer of the Executive Committee January 2017.

The cities of Leander, Cedar Park and Round Rock created the BCRUA, a local governing authority, to meet their responsibilities to provide solutions to the growing demand for water as their populations grow. Instead of pursuing options individually, the cities determined in the fall of 2005 that a partnership–a regional utility authority–would provide a more cost-effective solution.
