Master's Thesis focused on conducting a comprehensive pharmacological evaluation of new P2X7 receptor blocking compounds in traumatic brain injury (TBI) models. Validation studies of the receptor as a therapeutic target for TBI. Drug screening and pre-clinical studies in animal and cellular models, as well as in mouse tissue. Correlation studies on patient samples. Research group lead by Dr. Javier Egea Máiquez.This project has allowed me to develop different skills:- Planning and conducting preclinical studies using models with different complexities- Categorization, analysis, and interpretation of clinical data- Collaboration within an interdisciplinary setting- Interpretation and discussion of efficacy and toxicity results- Communication of latest therapeutic advances.

My project aimed to perform quantitative studies of the morphology of neurons from the parafascicular-centromedian nucleus of the thalamus in human tissue micrographs for comparison with micrographs from Parkinson's patients. Research group lead by Dr. David Vega Avelaira.Abilities honed throughout this project- Identifying different cell types based on their morphological characteristics - Interpreting three-dimensional structures- Organizing and categorizing a large amount of data- Excel analysis.

Erasmus+ internship in Helsinki Institute of Life Sciences (HiLIFE), Neuroscience Center.During my stay I collaborated in research focused on the development and evolution of the human brain and its alterations in neurodegenerative diseases using Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (IPSc) and cerebral cortex organoids. Group lead by Dr. Namba. Skills developed during this stay:- Explored and applied cutting-edge techniques in neuroscience- Presenting and discussing results with interdisciplinary and international audiences.- Adaptability and flexibility to new environments.

Undergraduate Thesis focused on characterizing Induced-Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSC) from patients with multisystemic neurodevelopmental disorders due to genetic alterations. Executed in vitro differentiation protocols, generating embryoid bodies and conducting neuronal differentiation. Other activities included a comprehensive comparison of various protocols, including budget estimates to reduce laboratory costs. Research group led by Dr. Roser Corominas Castiñeira.Achievements: I successfully established a protocol to carry out a cell differentiation protocol not previously employed in the laboratory.
