I am a Special Counsel in Bell Gully’s employment team. I advise on a broad range of employment matters including discipline and dismissal, performance management, holidays and leave, change management and redundancy for public and private sector employers and individual clients.I have significant experience drafting, reviewing and advising on all forms of employment agreements, policies and independent contractor agreements. This includes providing strategic advice on collective bargaining.I regularly represent clients in mediations and negotiations, and appear in the Employment Relations Authority and Employment Court. Across wider civil litigation matters, I have demonstrated success contesting cases in various tribunals, the District Court, High Court and the Court of Appeal.My litigation practice includes advising clients on public, civil and education law issues. I have a speciality in the hospitality industry providing alcohol licensing advice including applications for new licences, renewals and variations, and appearing on suspension and cancellation applications. Over my career I have represented applicants, licensees, objectors, Licensing Inspectors and Medical Officers of Health at District Licensing Committee hearings, before the Alcohol Regulatory and Licensing Authority and in the High Court.I am a member of the Wellington Branch of the New Zealand Law Society Employment Law Committee.
