Project Manager for Community Power Works for Home, a pilot program testing innovative models to increase energy efficiency in the residential sector. Managed a substantial work program, including staff and consultants and provided leadership in setting the strategic direction for program operations and implementation. Successfully implemented the Community High Road Agreement, a workforce development agreement designed to promote equitable economic development in underrepresented communities, and drive business growth for small, locally owned companies. Managed the Community Power Works contractor pool, and provided strategic training and support to contractors in order meet the goals and standards of the Community High Road Agreement. Negotiated multiple complex interdepartmental and intergovernmental agreements leading to innovative partnerships that increased program participation. Built and maintained critical relationships with external program stakeholders from a diverse community of representatives, including labor, utility, contractors, and elected officials.

Project manager responsible for managing complex planning projects, including several neighborhood rezones, legislation to allow backyard cottages, and urban agriculture. Designed and implemented successful community outreach and public engagement strategies around highly contentious land use policies.Effectively managed interdepartmental teams focused on urban sustainability and climate change policies.Developed nationally recognized urban agriculture policy that included innovative land use code changes to remove barriers and provide incentives for growing food in the city. Working with an inter-departmental team, secured grant funding to develop and implement a Healthy Living Assessment, a framework to assess health impacts at the neighborhood level. The project was awarded a 2013 National Planning Achievement Award for a Best Practice from the American Planning Association.

Led inter-departmental review of development projects including, public works and infrastructure, environmental (SEPA) review, preliminary plats, short plats, commercial and residential site plan approval.Managed the City’s wetland mitigation and restoration projects in residential zones. Worked with developers and biologists to develop successful performance standards for mitigation projects, reviewed and approved mitigation/restoration plans, and maintained project database.

Worked with Clallam County stakeholders to develop a natural resource management plan in a highly contentious political environment. Responsibilities included developing a successful public outreach campaign that increased citizen participation in the watershed planning process.Developed and taught environmental training workshops and classroom presentations to King County teachers.

Managed an environmental education team responsible for delivering environmental education programs focused on the natural and cultural resources of Southeast Alaska.

Developed ideas, initiated research and coordinated writing partnerships for the American Planning Association’s publication “Ecological Riverfront Design: Restoring Rivers, Connecting Communities.”
