Andrea is an operations expert and customer focused professional who has worked in the UK higher education sector for over 30 years. Having held a number of Directorate level roles at UCAS Andrea is now an Education Consultant working with universities and schools, specialising in leading and advising on change initiatives. Before leaving UCAS in 2013 Andrea was Director of Relationship Management responsible for the successful creation and management of a specialised team to support the universities and colleges in their membership of the UCAS schemes. Prior to that position Andrea took a key role in the Admissions Process review carried out by the organisation and subsequently, as Director of Implementation, lead on the introduction of substantial changes to the admissions process with the key objective of improving the customer experience for applicants, advisers and institutions. Throughout her career Andrea has successfully participated in a variety of consultative groups for example the Delivery Partnership Steering Group from 2006, has contributed to many sector conferences e.g. ‘Decisions at 18 2013’ and taken part in information events in the UK and worldwide for example British Council Education UK Exhibitions. Through such events Andrea has become recognised as able to provide an authoritative and well-informed view of the UK education sector relevant to the audience be it higher education providers, students, schools, colleges or government departments and agencies.

The changes made for UCAS focused on improvements to the current products and processes for both applicants and institutions particularly around the collection of data necessary for the admissions processes within institutions. For UTT the scheme was fundamentally changed and approximately 1,000 additional members were brought into the scheme.Key to the successful introduction of changes was the substantial outward facing communication through presentations, conferences and focus groups for all potential users of the schemes. Additionally consultation continued on substantial changes to key elements of the UCAS admissions process. -
Director Of Customer OperationsUcas Oct 2006 - Sep 2012The business unit was responsible for both processing applications and handling queries relating to the application schemes of UCAS, GTTR, CUKAS and UKPASS. The number of applicants per annum was approximately 800,000 and telephone queries 1 million+. The processing of applications effectively is key to the progress of applicants through the schemes, during the six years in post the processes within the unit were improved year on year to substantially increase both the speed and quality of data transfer to institutions and the response times for applicants. Within the contact centre a focus on customer care ensured continual positive feedback from customers alongside national awards for customer service in an efficient and flexible service.
