Can you imagine walking away from your career to pursue an Olympic sport you've never tried before? That's exactly what Andrea did when, at the late age of 27, she decided to pursue a career as a competitive rower for Team Canada - despite having no background in organized sport. Hitting pause on her corporate ambitions, she took an opportunity to discover what she was capable of. In only eight years, Andrea had transformed herself from a Hotel Manager into a National Champion, two-time World Cup medallist and Olympic Gold medallist. At the Tokyo 2021 Games, Andrea and her uniquely female-coached crew became Canada's Olympic Champions in the Women's Coxed Eight Rowing event for the first time in nearly three decades.Since hanging up her oars, Andrea advocates for athlete-centered sporting policies, gender equity, parental rights, and abuse-free sport as President Elect of the non-profit AthletesCAN. An experienced Keynote Speaker and story-teller, she offers multinational corporate leadership teams actionable tools for handling setback, burnout and uncertainty. A self-described watersports hype-woman, Andrea can often be found abroad commentating on international regattas, or at her home on Vancouver Island happily digging in her garden.
