I manage a team of student service professionals who in turn support and advise the Berkeley campus on most matters related to graduate education. With multiple service units in my department including admissions, fellowships, academic appointments, student life, and degrees, I serve as an air traffic controller, bringing context and information from one unit to the others, making sure that plans align, and ensuring smooth processes and effective decision-making. I center diversity and inclusion in my support of students and management of resources; I strive to create climates where staff and students can do their best work. I reduce confusion and provide direction to my staff and to campus colleagues by devising structures to support the work of graduate advising and program administration.
