I was responsible for R&D of meteorological backtracking software and algorithms in order to strengthen the capabilities of the CTBTO to locate any nuclear release based on highly sensitive environmental observation of airborne radioactivity. I designed the four layer workflow conception of the operational backtracking software system of the CTBTO adding the geo-location capability to the radionuclide compartment of the technical CTBT verification regime. The life cycle management of this… Show more I was responsible for R&D of meteorological backtracking software and algorithms in order to strengthen the capabilities of the CTBTO to locate any nuclear release based on highly sensitive environmental observation of airborne radioactivity. I designed the four layer workflow conception of the operational backtracking software system of the CTBTO adding the geo-location capability to the radionuclide compartment of the technical CTBT verification regime. The life cycle management of this system demands a close interaction with the scientific community, so I act as a folcal point to experts in the field and from other organisation on scientific questions of joint interrest. I vitalized the CTBTO-WMO co-operation through the set up of an emergency response system for the cases of CTBTO relevant radionuclide detection while making use of the capabilities of the nuclear emergency response activities coordination group (NERA-CG) once installed between WMO and IAEA in the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster. I was responsible for the WEB-GRAPE software development project that is now one of the core software tools disseminated by the CTBTO to the National Data Centres of its member states. Show less

I was in charge to contribute the source attribution modelling system in context of the MOZAIC project funded by the European Commission since 1993. MOZAIC aimed on the long term measurement of ozone, water vapour, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen oxides aboar Airbus in-service aircrafts. The implementation task implied the installation of an own directly coupled Euler-Lagrangian dispersion modelling system LaMM5 on the high performance computing system of the Research Centre.
