CTO, entrepreneur and technologist with 9 years’ experience identifying and developing ideas from research and development through to production and live market product support. I am particularly interested in the interactions between technology, design and perception to form emergent behaviour and novel experiences. As co-founder of Empathic Technologies I led the technology development of doppel, a world-first wearable device and mobile app that can actively change how the wearer feels. Our haptic wearables used cutting edge research in embodied cognition and neuroscience to naturally intervene in the feedback loop between our body and our brain to bring us to our desired state of mind easily, just like a second skin.I am adept at managing interdisciplinary teams across technical, manufacturing, design and research functions to deliver innovative products.

Its natural, psychological effect works in a similar way to music - slower rhythms are calming, and faster rhythms help you feel focused.Selected achievements:•Led technology development from initial ideation and prototyping through to manufacturing and sales, delivering a compliant and scientifically validated connected hardware device to market.•Established research strategies to both engage with users to establish use cases, as well as with research partners to independently validate core technology and investigate underlying mechanism.•Designed custom haptic “heartbeat” from user testing insights and literature, natural gesture-inspire capacitive touch interface. Specified and oversaw delivery of custom transparent haptic actuator for doppel wearable.•Ran product and development teams (10+) across hardware, firmware, mobile (native) and backend to ensure effective cross-functional communication and ingrained customer research and insight sharing throughout product and development teams.•Delivered mobile apps for consumer and research purposes on iOS and Android stores with BLE-connectivity, custom onboarding, resting heart rate measurement, profiles and personalisation features.•Spent over a year in China to establish production and assembly lines across electronics, plastics, casework and assembly, including design for manufacture, sourcing, quality assurance with ODMs and partners.
