As supercargo I attend the vessel at the port where cargo is handled. Before the vessel's arrival, I review the stowage plan and discuss all relevant information with the captain. At the port I inspect the cargo that is to be shipped. Are all necessary documents ready? I also talk to the terminal employees, stevedores, lashing inspectors, the vessel's captain and crew to discuss all relevant topics, tasks and possible changes - always striving for the highest quality and efficiency of all actions and avoiding extra costs. I issue the program of the vessel's port stay and the estimated time of departure, take pictures and prepare documentation for the port of discharge and make sure that sophisticated cargo is handled and lashed exactly as per method statement. I am there to be the link and coordinator between all parties involved in loading or discharging and make sure that all cargo reaches its destination in the same good condition as loaded. When all cargo is successfully loaded I issue a stowage plan that displays the status at departure and a pre-stowage plan for the next port. I sail with the vessel to the port of destination and during my time onboard I inspect every day the cargo, write reports to the Logistic Center in Germany and coordinate the details of the voyage with the captain and the officers.

Since I have completed in the passed 35 years many trainings and naval-exercises as reserve officer (final degree “commander”) I got in 1998 the responsibility as a deputy squadron commander of a reserve squadron. I organized and to conducted the military training of several ships and their crews.Additionally I work as supercargo: I am in charge for sea-transportations (e.g. Somalia, Greece, Turkey, Croatia) for the German Armed Forces. I used to plan and to operate the worldwide transport of the German Army's equipment. For these jobs improvisation is necessary, also the capability of negotiations with international civil, military and official authorities.

I acquired up to 250 trucks and configurated them with electronic test-equipment.With this fleet the German Road-Charging-Project (Toll Collect) was tested on everyday life conditions. I was liable for the quality and quantity of this test fleet and the just-in-time-roll-out of the technical test-equipment. Therefore I was in constant contact and negotiations with CEO’s of forwarding agencies and workshops. In 2006 I worked as Site Survey Coordinator in the Homeland-Security-Project of Romania and was located in Bukarest. I coordinated, organized and evaluated the Site Survey of 205 locations of the Romanian Border Police all over the country in order to get them suitable for the installation of an IT-System.
