I was responsible for the coordination of the backend, frontend (Zürich) and Android (China) and iOS (Romania) teams. As part of the management I helped to scale the company up to 40 people of which 16 were of a technical role. After a pivot to a B2B model of mila.com I supported the CEO in re-sizing the company down to eight employees. I took over the development as the only developer left in the company and changed from a Java stack to a Node.js, Angular.js and Ionic stack within 6 months. Due to the successful pivot we managed an exit to Swisscom AG. During the last year I scaled the development again to 15 developers, 2 of them in Berlin, 3 external and the rest in Zurich. To be able to scale faster I started working with external contractors for enhancing our product. Further I am coordinating the integration into third party systems of our business partners like Swisscom and Vodafone on an architectural level. As a development process we are divided in the four squads of joint developers and product people in a scrum/kanban like manner. During the last 3 years we scaled the business from 30 transactions/year and a dozend service providers to approximately 60'000 transactions/year with a community of more than 6'000 service providers. That the system could scale is the result of a mixture of clever software and server architecture and heuristic optimization algorithms where I was integral in the creation process.

I was leading a team of five for implementing the backend and back-office function of mila.com. I was coordinating our collaboration with our research partner ETHZ for integrating new innovations like machine learning and social graph projects. As a member of the management, I took part in guiding the direction of the company.

As a doctoral student at the Institute of Neuroinformatics UZH/ETH I developmt Cx3d a distributed computational simulation tool that can add computational nodes on the fly. I used this tool to simulate cell growth of mouse brain structures. The simulation starts from one single cell and creates sophisticated multicellular brain structure employing distributed computational algorithms where each cell is a separate computational entity.

I joned Corsystems AG when we were a team of 6. My role was to create the software architecture of CoreSuite Framework, our first product for SAP Business One. The framework made use of a plugin system in order to save memory during the loading of the SAP add-ons. This technique allowed for more customization plugins to be loaded into SAP Business One. In combination with an automatic update functionality which was not yet standard we were able to create the CoreSuite Framework within 3 months for its initial market release of 500 installations. This techniques allowed us to replace and reinstall new versions of the Framework and its add-ons through the web, potentially replacing faulty code and distributing newer and improved versions of the solution. The CoreSuite Framework is still being developed further and has now more than 100'000 installations. With this solution I helped to start the scaling process of Coresystems AG that is now a team of 160 employees.
