Visions are the driving force - My passion for technological innovation and entrepreneurship was the deciding factor to focus my career on biotechnology and to co-found selectION Inc., San Diego. Profile of selectION Inc. - selectION has developed a discovery platform that effectively enables the company to discover and develop highly selective peptides targeting ion channels. The current generation of peptides provides a highly selective targeting of the Kv1.3 channel, a key target in autoreactive effector memory T cells, playing a central role in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases. Taking responsibility from the beginning - With 15+ years of experience as life sciences executive I co-founded selectION Inc. and joined the company as CSO based in San Diego and Managing Director of its German branch. I have successfully managed the technology transfer from conoGenetix, Munich, which I led for 14 years as CEO, to the US Inc. At selectION, I head the preclinical development, technological innovation & evaluation and the expansion of the discovery platform technology. I am well experienced in leading interdisciplinary teams producing key results, on time and on budget. At conoGenetix I was responsible for the commercial management and scientific conception, acquisition of investors, research funds and development partners. Quality matters - I am a biologist and neurochemist by training and certified toxicologist (ERT – European Registered Toxicologist, DGPT - German Society for Pharmacology and Toxicology). I also acquired qualifications in biosafety management, international project management (GPM/IPMA), quality management (TÜV) and European Business (EBC*Level A-C). Why wind is important - In my spare time, I am a passionate ocean sailor. When sailing, I am free for new exciting ideas and their implementation. In addition, I can live my passion for strategy, planning and teamplay while sailing.
