I have been part of a big operational excellence program, where I was project lead for two projects:- Implementing a management control systemThe management control system objective is to ensure that the organization work in the same direction towards the strategic targets. This was done by auditing and improving current key performance indicators ensuring that they align and covered strategic targets. Also by improving current meeting structure and coaching the meetings towards effective resolution of deviations from key performance indicators.- Develop CI capabilityIn order to create a sustainable CI culture on the site in Stenungsund, CI trainings was prepared and the execution planned for green-, brown- and black belt together with the global operational excellence team.

The role as Operations Improvement Engineer is designed to be with a strategic focus in the improvement work for the site focusing on the operations part. Therefore a big part of the role is to identify initiatives, and create solid business cases linked toward the sites targets. I have worked closely with the production manager to advise and perform analysis to help with decisions and during vacation periods acted as production manager.In my role I have coached several different employees in projects as well as roles, something I believe is key to developing the business and effectively achieving results. In addition, I have driven both major and minor initiatives, some mentioned below:- EMU - Road to Recovery (Capacity project)Project manager on site for an umbrella project with several different workflows to increase capacity and create balance between demand and supply on the EMU plant (Surface Chemistry – Stenungsund). The project contained the following work streams Product wheel planning, Short interval Control, DCS optimization and Reliability management. Together they delivered approximately 8% capacity equivalent to 5,6 mEUR.- H2Optimize (Emission levels and water levels)Project manager to handle exceeded emission levels and high levels of process water, prioritized site project with potentially large consequences. I have helped to create a clear structure to work fact based, identify root causes and created guidelines for the site to work against.- Implemented Loss accounting toolI have implemented a part of the MES-system (Manufacturing execution system) which handles automatic monitoring of the OEE and production speed where the operators then categories and describes deviations from target production speed. In the role I analyzed these losses and then present areas for improvements. The production have during the last couple of years structurally eliminated losses resulting in a positive efficiency development.

I was responsible to maintain and update master data for the quality module in SAP. During this period a new MES system was installed on site which moved the whole quality control from SAP to the new system and then needed a lot of work to get it error proof.During this period I also participated in a project to optimize and stabilize the whole ordering process. My focus was to optimize the shipping departments processes and interactions with the rest of the ordering process.

In this position I have been handling all transport related customers complaints for Surface Chemistry orders sent from Europe. Part of the position was to compile statistics for all transport companies, which I automated in excel, significantly reducing the time required to compile the statistics. I have also been involved in different project reducing variable cost and was assigned to the shipping department for restructuring work processes to increase teamwork and effectiveness.

- Bachelor thesisThe bachelor thesis dealt with mapping the quality risks related to intermediate storage of products before they are tapped for delivery to customer. This resulted in a concept that approximates the amount of contamination between products in pipelines and intermediate storage tanks. The concept aimed to be integrated in the distributed control system as a solution that warn before quality risk is about to occur.- Black Belt projectA project driven over a 20 weeks period together with Six Sigma studies. The project aim was to reduce variation in the measurement system for a specific method with the help of Six Sigma methodology. The project reduced measurement variation by 80 percent, which provided a Black Belt certificate from University West.- Cooperative education period 2 – Project focus (20 weeks)Developed a new planning tool for bulk loading and unloading during 14 weeks with the goal to ensure a safe work environment and increased loading capacity. The planning tool needed to reflect the high variations in loading and unloading times to ensure a more accurate planning.The remaining of the 20 weeks i was involved in project SPIRA, a big continuous improvement project with focus to increase capacity in the EMU plant. In the end I started to work with transport related deviations for Surface Chemistry, Europe (covering for a colleague).- Cooperative education period 1 – Shipping department (10 weeks)The cooperative education during my studies started in the shipping department followed by summer work the next three summers. In this position I was the coordinator between customer service, transporters, production, truck drivers, and loading personnel.
