In 2009 a 3 year 1,150,000 EURO cashew development component was funded by Irish AidEmployer: CARE Canada, working for CARE International in Mozambique.Key Achievements:• Project start up and adaptation in a very challenging environment• Developed the livestock component into a model intervention and introduced new components (such as savings led microfinance and crafts)• Designed the income/expenditure tree tool with applications in baseline survey, monitoring system and in gender, HIV and economic education.• Gender and HIV/AIDS strategy developed• Marketed and documented the project’s success at various levels through video, music, radio productions and brochures• Successful extension of program to include an Irish Aid funded cashew project• Managed and mentored 25 staff, project plans and an annual budget of 1-1,5 Mio USD• Successfully negotiated with donors for project changes and adaptations• Finalized a Barclays Bank funded VSLA proposal and developed VSLA concept note
