A CIDA funded seven year and 7.5 Mio CAD project on Sustainable Effective Economic Development improving various value chains in northern Inhambane, the most vulnerable province of Mozambique. In 2009 a 3 year 1,150,000 EURO cashew development component was funded by Irish AidEmployer: CARE Canada, working for CARE International in Mozambique.Key Achievements:• Project start up and adaptation in a very challenging environment• Developed the livestock component into a model intervention and introduced new components (such as savings led microfinance and crafts)• Designed the income/expenditure tree tool with applications in baseline survey, monitoring system and in gender, HIV and economic education.• Gender and HIV/AIDS strategy developed• Marketed and documented the project’s success at various levels through video, music, radio productions and brochures• Successful extension of program to include an Irish Aid funded cashew project• Managed and mentored 25 staff, project plans and an annual budget of 1-1,5 Mio USD• Successfully negotiated with donors for project changes and adaptations• Finalized a Barclays Bank funded VSLA proposal and developed VSLA concept note

Two DANIDA and UNHCR funded projects dealing with agriculture (extension services, sustainable agriculture including marketing of agricultural products and savings and credit) and community based natural resource management in and surrounding refugee camps. A pilot project funded by the Government of Austria (GoA) and CARE Österreich improving extension services, agricultural production and marketing of agricultural products.Employer: CARE Austria, working for CARE International in Tanzania.Key Achievements:• Successful start up, adaptation and redesign of project to the needs of the population• Conducted PRA and PCM training, supervised PRA’s, baseline studies and other research• Introduced Organic Farming, Farmer Field Schools, Farmer Facilitators (farmer to farmer extension), new cash crops (e.g. vanilla) and economic development/marketing training• Managed to build up relationship with large scale traders for trade relations with farmers• Managed and guided 9 CARE staff and 7 government staff and an average annual budget of about 270,000 USD• Wrote 4 project proposals to the Austrian Government, AusAID, EU and DANIDA• Facilitated the formation of KBCS (Kasulu Beekeepers Cooperative Society), continuing to date
