As a System Engineer at isMobile I am focused on developing software and configuring parts of our system to fit the customer’s needs. However, the scope of my work has increased, and I have more responsibilities than when I was a Software Engineer. I am currently in training for a position as Lead developer.I am responsible for one of the client applications of our company’s software suite. The client is written in C# and I’ve worked a lot with it in the past, but no adjustments have been made to this application since back in 2017.When configuring our system, we often utilize an in-house developing tool and our own API, but I basically work with a combination of Java, XML, jScript/Javascript and XSLT most of the time.In the projects I am involved in we generally sit down with our customers whom provide us with specifications which we then discuss the technical aspects of, make changes if required and then implement. Part of my role is to come up with the technical solutions required for the customer - not only to develop them. I am used to communicating with customers both face to face and over distances. I use InVision for building prototypes which I can then demo to our customers and gather feedback from. When a fix or new function is implemented I generally use screen capture software to create instruction videos for testers and customers.Our software suite’s server components are (mainly) made up of a jBoss server application and an oracle database so on occasion I dabble with SQL, Windows and Linux servers, Perl scripting (mainly for generating XML and SOAP messages), SOAP UI and various other tools in connection with that.I use SQL developer either to extract specific data from customer databases or to find erroneous data and fix it. For certain customer projects I handle release deployment and problem analysis on their environments.We often work with Scrum or at least in a Scrum-like fashion in our different customer projects.
