The company was launched within Tiscali Italia S.p.A., one of the leading Italian telecommunications companies, and was acquired by the multinational Docler Holding S.à.r.l. (formerly Jasmin Media Group, better known as LiveJasmin) in 2017.My role in the project involved designing, developing, and maintaining the REST APIs. The system was built using a microservices architecture and all services were hosted on the AWS cloud. I was actively involved in researching and developing new technologies to enhance the product. This involved collaborating on the development of a chat server using XMPP, developing a proof of concept for a Firebase-style backend with an event database, and exploring the use of a graph database (Neo4j) for app searches.The technology stack used included a RESTful API layer, using technologies such as PHP, Node, Nginx, Node JS, and Elastic-Search, as well as various AWS services such as S3, Route53, Cloudfront, Lambda, and DynamoDB.The working methodology followed was Agile, specifically Scrum, with a focus on TDD (Test-Driven Development).
