I have directed our digital coverage for the world’s biggest sporting events, including Super Bowls, World Series, NBA and NHL Finals, Olympics, World Cups, plus the daily coverage of the local franchises.- Led the transformation of the Daily News sports department to a digital-first operation; Oversaw the transition to a 24-hour news operation; increased digital staff to 8 at our peak- Earned five straight Associated Press Sports Editors Top Website awards- At peak performance, NYDN Sports attracted 7.5 million unique monthly visitors- Continued to grow overall page views, unique visitors and engagement time despite 40 percent staff loss between 2015 and 2017 through smart analytic-driven game planning- Added in print-side responsibilities starting in 2018 as corporate cuts reduced the size of the sports department: daily print budgeting and proofing pages- Responsible for all aspects of the sports section from breaking news and push alerts/newsletters, third-party content and both daily and long-term interactive projects- Maintain social media accounts and coordinate social plan for reporters and columnists- Utilize current SEO techniques to give Daily News content greatest possible push- Use latest analytic tools – Chartbeat, CrowdTangle, Dataminr, Parsely, SocialFlow – to spot key trends and help develop the daily game plan- In addition, I’ve written over 1,000 stories. My byline pieces include the front–page article on Colin Kaepernick beginning his peaceful protest in 2016, breaking news, obits and trending pieces across all spectrums of the sports world, interviews ranging from Doc Gooden and Becky Lynch to Aly Wagner and first-person pieces on the U.S. Open, a NASCAR ride-along and a trip down the Lake Placid Olympic bobsled track.
